The 2008 flag bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has appealed to Ghanaians to give the party a second chance to lead the nation.
He made the appeal as guest on Joy FM's Super Morning Show Wednesday, on the occasion of the national celebration of Founder’s Day”.
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, founder and first president of the Republic of Ghana, he noted, had the best political regime since independence.
Dr. Nduom challenged the leadership of the CPP to buy the ideas of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and be productive.
The party has struggled, Dr. Nduom stressed, urging all Ghanaians to join hands and bring the party into power once again.
He said some people think the party has not made any progress, but the party really has, explaining that after the near collapse of the CPP, attempts in in the Fourth Republic to piece it together has been largely successful. It is however not in the best of shapes.
Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom said naturally, when a piece of cloth is torn into shreds it takes time to piece it together for it to become useful, saying the CPP is piecing itself step by step. “I can say boldly that the CPP is making progress,” he said.
Contrary to perceptions that the party is made up of old men and women, he said the CPP today is more youthful than the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
