Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, the youngest son of Ghana’s first President, says the Convention People’s Party (CPP) is insignificant in the country’s politics.
According to Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, the CPP had one percent in the last elections with only one parliamentary seat which makes it impossible to win general elections.
"As far as I’m concerned, you can have a big position in the CPP today, but that party unfortunately is a very insignificant party in real Ghanaian politics," Dr. Nkrumah said.
Dr. Sekou Nkrumah disclosed this on Adom Fm on Thursday in reaction to his failure to attend a memorial lecture on Wednesday night in memory of his father. He told Adakabre Frimpong Manso, host of Dwaso Nsem that he did not get an invitation for the lectures.
Dr. Nkrumah argued that the CPP is riding on the ideals of his late father and therefore called on the leadership of the party to come out with ideas that will revive the party.
"CPP is riding on what Nkrumah did and I am saying enough is enough, the foundation Nkrumah laid, and they have to tell us how they can improve on that foundation," Dr. Nkrumah stressed.
