Former President John Agyekum Kufuor says he has never seen the New Patriotic Party flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo smoking cigarette or drinking alcohol.
Former President Kufuor who said he has known Nana Akufo-Addo for over forty (40) years, was emphatic that he has never seen his successor in the party taking any narcotic drugs.
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor revealed these in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, in reaction to a wikileaks report on leaked US diplomatic cables which alleged that Nana Akufo-Addo used to smoke marijuana.
He however noted, it was not proper to judge people with their past deeds, adding that Ghanaians should not judge Nana Akufo-Addo with things he is perceived to have done in the past.
Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor therefore called on Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP presidential candidate in next year’s general election.
He personified the wikileaks as a stubborn child that publishes confidential information.
Meanwhile, Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor said the presence of former president Rawlings’s during the launch of JAK Foundation, marks the new beginning of cordial relationship between the two.
He noted that party politics means diverse views which should be tolerated by all. He however said if he disagrees with his political opponents he will voice it out.
In a related development, the former President has advised the youth to avoid being used by politicians negatively. He urged them not to engage themselves in politics of insults that is gradually gaining grounds in the Ghanaian politics.
