Tigo Ghana has introduced the Tigo Twitter SMS Service that made it possible for the Ghanaian social networking community to access Twitter through SMS.
A statement copied to Adom News said the Tigo Twitter SMS service allows all Tigo subscribers (both prepaid and postpaid) to send and receive tweets through text messages - this means twitter users can now use the social media service from any mobile phone without any connection to the Internet.”
The statement said to sign on to the Twitter SMS service, Tigo subscribers should send a text message with the word “START” to short code 40404.
“Subscribers will start enjoying the social media service by receiving tweets free of charge from the people they follow - they will only be charged when they send out tweets,” it said.
The Twitter SMS service was one of many innovative solution-based products and services from Tigo, including Facebook Phone, which allows subscribers to access facebook at the touch of a dedicated button and the Facebook SMS service, which also allows subscribers to receive and post comments on Facebook through SMS.
Tigo was also the first network to introduce two innovative services - Tigo Family Care Insurance and Tigo ads.
“Tigo Family Care Insurance provides insurance cover for subscribers and one family member for free. Tigo Ads provides subscribers with relevant and engaging advertising experiences,” the statement said.
Tigo Ghana has indicated that it is committed to introducing products and services that would enhance the social experience of its subscribers on the network.
