Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, FIFA Marketing Consultant says stars can be created in the local league to boost attendance. The thorny issue of low patronage of league matches which more often than not has been attributed to a lack of enigmatic stars may soon be a thing of the past.According Armstrong Mortagbe, there is a way out - focusing on the unique skills of individual players. He noted that stars can be created but it cannot be done in a vacuum. In an interview on Asempa FM’s Sportz World on Saturday, Mr. Armstrong Mortagbe stated that Ghanaian clubs have to identify their players' unique skills and package them for the market. He believes if there is a conscious and a concerted effort by the clubs especially the spokespersons to highlight the unique qualities players of their clubs bring onto the field, fans will start looking out for them and hence boost attendance. He also added that clubs after identifying those unique skills by their players should also bring the media on board to hype the players, not publishing falsehood but packaging the information about the players in an appealing way to woo fans.We all know Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Lionel Messi for certain unique skills they bring on the field of play, he noted. According to him those unique skills are constantly packaged and publicized for us to get consumed in their sublime skills. The fifa Marketing Consultant also advised managers and representatives of players to build socially responsible images for their players by engaging in social projects to endear them to the fans they play for.
