Former black stars striker and now stopgap coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Malik Jabir has assured most football fans that the two most glamorous teams in the country’s league - Kotoko and Hearts - will dominate the premiership come next season.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak apparently have not been happy with their recent poor finishes in the premier league, seeding their titles as the two most glamorous clubs to new boys Chelsea and Aduana Stars from the Brong Ahafo Region.
The two BA teams have dominated the Ghana premier league the last two seasons and Hearts and Kotoko for once have decided to forget about their rivalry and team up to change that in the new season.
The two clubs turned down all pre-season invitations including the GLO G8 tournament to play in a Super 2 tournament in Kumasi and Accra ahead of the start of the new season which commences on October 9.
After the two teams 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara stadium over the weekend, the experienced technical director Malik Jabir says “it is a good show I think the two teams will improve to silence the new ones”.
The 1968 African Nations Cup winner who had coached ASFA Yennenga of Burkina Faso and Kano Pillars F.C. of Nigeria as Technical Adviser is now acting in the place of Maxwell Konadu as head coach of Kotoko. Konadu is now on holidays after a gold medal feat in the just ended All African games held in Mozambique as the assistant of Coach Kwesi Appiah.
