The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mohammed Amin Lamptey has warned Mr. Victor Ahiakpor to tread cautiously in his quest to promote boxing in the country.
Victor Ahiakpor had been an active football administrator known for his exploits with Kpando Hearts of lions but now intends to carve a niche in the noble art of self defense, boxing.
Mr Lamptey said “Rookie’s” idea of bringing professionalism in the sports is welcomed but he should beware of the people he surrounds himself with.
Amin Lamptey in an interview on Asempa FM’s Sports Morning Show on Tuesday stated that the people moving with him might not be seeking his interest but rather their own.
He added that “these people will go to him under the pretext of knowing much in the sports and end up ill-advising him”.
He therefore advised Mr Ahiakpor against listening to those people but should rather consult the appropriate quarters of which his outfit is one for the necessary advice.
In a related issue, the PRO also challenged media persons who pride themselves as boxing aficionados to desist from making unfounded allegations about persons in the game.
He wondered why they do not contact the right people when they have limited information on an issue under discussion but rather go berserk on air.
The PRO called on all stakeholders to help make the sports a lucrative and an interesting one.
