The Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Dr Joyce Aryee has retired from the chamber, effective November 30.
Joyce Aryee joined the chamber as its first female chief executive some 10 years ago.
According to a statement from the chamber, Madam Aryee is retiring to pursue other interests.
She is credited with transforming the chamber which represented the interest of mining firms in the country.
Madam Aryee has been speaking with Joy Business about her retirement.
“I give glory to God, but I couldn’t have achieved this without the help of so many people including you people in the media. It has been challenging but I think now we know that mining is something that Ghana needs because we have a lot of resources but if we don’t use it as a catalyst for development, then we will be shortchanging ourselves.”
She told Joy Business she intends to devote her time to propagating God’s word, “so Salt and Light is going to be the major focus of my attention”.
Madam Aryee’s successor is expected to be appointed soon.
Joy Business has however picked signals it is likely to be the immediate-past Director of Corporate Affairs at Tullow Oil Ghana Dr. Tony Aubynn.
