The Head Coach of the National Olympic Football Team, Jones Attuquayefio has expressed his disappointment by the withdrawal of Ethiopia from the African Olympic Games qualifiers.
“We were ready to clear that match quickly in order to restore the confidence of the team and the general public, though by withdrawing it might give us points but it is better to engage in a competition to improve the standard of the team which will eventually give us more exposure to be able to continue with our assignment” he indicated.
The Black Meteors were scheduled to host the Ethiopians in two weeks time but the Ghana Football Association has received a letter from their Ethiopian counterparts stating their withdrawal from the qualifiers.
In the run up to this match, the Black Meteors had lost to Nigeria in the first match of the qualifiers whiles underperforming at the just ended All Africa Games.
According to him the team was looking to make amends for the team’s recent failures with victory over Ethiopia.
Jones Attuquayefio stated that series of training exercises will be organised for the team to get them set for any assignment.
