Ghana Premier League legend Charles Taylor has blamed poor selection for the Black Stars ‘’B’’ inability to qualify for 2018 African Nations Championship.
Having played a 2-2 draw in the first leg against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou, the team made up of players from Ghanaian topflight were expected to seal qualification at home but instead suffered a shock 2-1 defeat as their Burkinabe counterparts progressed 4-3 on aggregate.
And for Taylor, who starred in the maiden edition of the tournament, the defeat was caused by the technical team’s decision to opt for players not good enough.

Charles Taylor (Number 14)
"I think we failed to qualify for the tournament due to bad selection. The good players were sidelined and didn’t get invitation to represent their country," Taylor to Metro FM.
"If you make bad selection this is the result you will get because the team on Sunday lacked some qualities so we didn’t play any productive game to merit us qualification to the CHAN 2018.
"Our team didn’t have any good tackler so we allowed the Burkina team to play freely and that is what did the magic for them."
"None of our midfielders tackled well in the game against Burkina. The game is not about passing only. You need tacklers."
"Our leaders are seriously spoiling our football in the country. Not that we have bad players in the Ghana Premier League there are good players in the league but this is the case where the good ones are not called.
"Imagine a player like Liberty Professionals Samuel Sarfo has been getting invitation to the senior Black Stars team but fails to start in the Black Stars B where else will you see this if not Ghana?"
Taylor was amongst the scorers as Black Stars ‘’B’’ finished as runners up to DR Congo in 2009.
