African telecommunication giant MTN, is beefing up its management team with Ghanaians to extend its lead on the market.
MTN entered Ghana with its acquisition of Scancom, operators of Areeba network. The South African company has since been recruiting successful Ghanaians to man various positions, which were largely held by non-Ghanaians.
After Newmont’s Mawuena Dumor, the latest big fish to join the MTN team is George Andam, who has been the Marketing Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries.
Mr Andam, according Joy Business Report sources would be expected to head the Marketing outfit of MTN’s subsidiary in Ghana by February 1.
Andam will be expected to bring his dynamism into play as he supervises the strategic growth of Areeba’s local market share of the burgeoning local industry.
The mobile telecommunications company is working towards the launch of a new name by the end of the first quarter.
