Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of Operations, Dr. K.K. Manfo says he has initiated moves to halt the use of his son’s name by an accused standing trial for alleged terrorist attacks in London.
One year after the alleged terrorist bombings of the London transport system, a suspect being tried for his alleged role in the attack still bears the name of Asiedu Manfo, son of Dr. K.K. Manfo.
British police had established that the man in question was of Arab extraction and was not a Ghanaian.
The identity card of Dr. Manfo’s son was said to have been stolen by a man reported to have been part of a group of six men who planned the London bombings in July 2005, however when the trial opened on Monday, prosecutors maintained the suspect’s name as Asiedu Manfo.
Dr Manfo said the continued use of the name was tainting his good image and that of his family.
He told Joy News that he had made contacts to get prosecutors drop the use of the name.
He said however he had been told since the suspect claimed to be named same, the prosecutors could not stop him from using it until they were through with their prosecution where his true identity could be established.
