Vodafone says it is set to roll out in the next few weeks, a nationwide sensitization exercise on data usage. This follows a research by the company which has revealed more than 90 percent of the Ghanaian populace lack knowledge on data usage.Data usuage has been touted as the next paradigm in Ghana’s telecoms industry. According to a recent report by Research and Markets, while the voice market of the country’s telecoms industry is approaching saturation at more than 75% penetration as at the middle of 2011, internet user penetration is still low at around 10%.Vodafone Ghana’s Chief Marketing Officer, Uche Ofodile says they have in this light initiated a holistic approach to significantly enhance the situtaion."Its important for us to start thinking forward because when you look at other markets data is definitely growing very aggressively. And so the next phase for us is to see how we can also make that growth happen here in Ghana" she noted. She was speaking to JOY BUSINESS at the sidelines the Formula-1 Grand Prix“There’s been a lot of noise in the market from the promotion point of view but we have a very unique approach. When we come out with the campaign in a few weeks, you’ll see us starting from that point of view that people need to understand how data empowers them. We can then start to get into the propositions we'd offer them, the devices and the speed among others. So what you’ll see is that Vodafone would once again lead in terms of starting with the customer and making sure that the right things are done” she concluded.
