The Brong Ahafo Regional Director of Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, DOVISU, ASP Ernest Kwaku Amoako, has expressed concern about the increasing rate of pregnancy among school girls in the region.
In an interview with the GNA in Sunyani, ASP Amoako said the Sunyani office recorded 88 cases of teenage pregnancy representing 40 percent of all cases reported in 2006.
He mentioned spousal assault, abortion, indecent assault, rape, defilement and stealing as some of the other cases.
He said persons who reported teenage pregnancy cases were between the ages of 12 and 19 and were mostly primary and JSS pupils.
