Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Northern region are appealing for support to assist almost eight hundred Fulani herdsmen and their relations escaping possible attacks in Gushegu and surrounding areas.
NADMO says it is overwhelmed by the number of herdsmen seeking shelter and food.
It follows the recent attacks on nomads at Kpantinga, near Gushegu in which thirteen of them died.
The new camp has been set up by the assembly and NADMO as more Fulani herdsmen throng police stations for protection.
Mahama Abdulai Siliboma who is the Northern Regional NADMO Coordinator said they are making efforts to relocate some of the people to other camps.
Joy News’ Tamale Correspondent Mahama Shaibu reported the fulanis are back under the escort of heavily armed police men to help them evacuate their belongings.
One of them said his brother and nephew were both killed in the gory incident and their properties torched.
He said he is back to evacuate the little left of his brother’s properties.
They are still yet to find out the cause of the attack.
