The Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit is cautioning women, especially young ladies to be extra vigilant during this Yuletide to avoid sexual abuse.
It is also advising parents not to leave their children alone.
National Coordinating Director of DOVVSU, ACP Elizabeth Dassah told Joy News criminals often take advantage of vulnerable people during festive occasions.
She says abusers often lurk around pubs and public places at night and urged ladies who visit such places to move about in pairs.
“Parents are also encouraged to monitor the whereabouts of their kids and advice them to go out in twos.”
She urged revelers to minimize intake of alcoholic beverages and on the look out for gifts from such people.
