Two chemical sellers have been arrested in Half-Assini for buying large quantities of stolen drugs. The drugs, costing about 10,000 cedis is believed to have been stolen from the Half–Assini Government Hospital.
The two by name, Eric Amihere and Francis Erzoah have been granted bail with one other accomplice, Anthony Acquah, currently at large.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Jomoro Police District, John Ferguson Dzineku told Joy News the actions of such people are creating problems for the health insurance scheme in the district.
He said a lot more people involved in such activities get away with it because they are not caught.
“We are even lucky they sold some in town but majority [get away with it]… They take it across the border to Cote D’Ivoire so when you are a Ghanaian and you fall sick and go to hospital.. it means you have to travel all the way to Takoradi [from Half Assini].”
DSP Dzineku said due to some reasons, which he did not disclose, the suspects have not be arraigned before court yet, but he promised that they will face the law in due course.
