The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Fritz Baffour, has donated 17 sewing machines valued at GH¢1,700 to 17 new seamstresses in his constituency to enable them to start their own businesses.
The donation of the machines followed a request made to the MP by the chairman of the Mamprobi Dressmakers Association, Francis Mensah Boafo.
Presenting the machines, Mr. Baffour said he was delighted to contribute towards the future development of the 17 young women.
He promised further assistance to residents in the constituency, stressing that the role of women in national development could not be under-estimated and urged men to respect women and not to denigrate them.
Mr. Baffour asked the beneficiaries to be proud of the vocation they had chosen and urged them to make the best out of the tools provided them to support themselves and their families.
He urged them to consider working as a group so as to attract support from the financial institutions.
Mr. Mensah Boafo thanked the MP for the prompt response and urged the beneficiaries to work hard to better their lives by becoming financially independent in their finances.
