The Ghana Police Service has blown the lid on an administrative lapse that could send shivers down the spine of every law abiding Ghanaian.According to the Acting Public Relations Officer, ASP Cephas Arthur the 191 emergency number of the Ghana Police is sometimes inaccessible and therefore urged the public to dial other numbers of the service including the short code 18555.Interestingly, the short codes can only receive six calls at a time. Thus, only 12 of the estimated 25 million people in the country can be served at a time.Adom FM Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, called several emergency numbers including that of the Ghana Police but there was no response, except that of the Ghana National Fire Service which was responded to from the Tema office.ASP Arthur said the Police Service has 0302-773909 which is not toll free and asked the public to patronize this number since the 191 is not always reliable. He said people are not security conscious and do not save emergency numbers so in times of trouble, such people find it difficult to reach the police.ASP Arthur will not admit to the assertion that the emergency number of the Ghana Police service is not easily accessible, but blamed the telecommunication operators for the problem in interconnectivity. After persistent calls, there was no response from the numbers the Police PRO announced on the programme.
