The Fast Track High Court Registry, Accra is to take charge of the day to day administration of the Electoral Boundary Disputes Tribunal set up by the Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Georgina Theodora Wood.
The Tribunal was set up by the CJ on December 19, 2011 by virtue of Article 48(1) of the 1992 Constitution which states: "A person aggrieved by a decision of the Electoral Commission in respect of a demarcation of a boundary, may appeal to a tribunal consisting of three persons appointed by the Chief Justice and the Electoral Commission shall give effect to the decision of the tribunal"
A statement signed by the Judicial Secretary, Justice Alex B. Poku-Acheampong, said the three member Tribunal which was sworn in office on December 19, 2011 is chaired by Justice Barbara Ward Acquah, a Justice of the High Court, with Mr. Kofi Otutu Adu Labi and Surveyor Marcus Amos Tabil as members.
The Fast Track High Court Registry is to process all petitions brought before the Tribunal and in that regard, Mr. Rexford Gyimah, the Registrar of the Fast Track High Court, Accra, has been given additional responsibility as the Registrar of the Electoral Boundary Dispute Tribunal. The hearing of the said petitions will be held at Land Court 1, Accra.
