Christmas and the New Year festive period is the most joyous time of the year. A time of merry-making and giving to family and loved ones alike. However, society often forgets about the less fortunate ones during such times.
For this reason, the Kinkaway Foundation; a non-governmental and a non-partisan organization, put together a fun-filled Christmas Party for children in the Hiawa and Bekwei communities of Wassa Amenfi West District of the Western Region.
The event took, which place at the Hiawa School Park catered for over 1000 children in both communities.
There were lots to eat and drink as well as fun activities such as musical chairs, ‘Azonto’ Dancing Competition, Bouncy Castles, poem recitals among others.
The day climaxed with a football match between Hiawa Stars and Bekwei Rangers. The winning team which was Hiawa Stars took away a trophy and a cash reward of GHC 400.00.
Mr. Richmond Gyapong, the Assemblyman for the communities expressed his profound gratitude to the Foundation and asked for continuous support.
On her part, the Director of the Kinkaway Foundation Ms. Bridgette Nunoo promised that the children’s Christmas party will be an annual event and will be extended to other communities.
