A Deputy Minister of Education, Mrs Elizabeth Amoah-Tetteh, has urged students to shun all forms of social vices that can destroy their future.
She said, students should rather learn from role models and mentors so that the opportunities given to them would be beneficial to the nation at large.
She made this known when she opened the fifth Annual School Exchange Programme for students in Senior High Schools in the country.
She also urged students to take advantage of the opportunity offered them to learn new cultures, values, skills and acquire positive behaviour for them to become better people in society for the socio-economic development of the nation.
The minister called on the students to be tolerant, patient and ready to accommodate their friends while they developed their minds on different trends and skills in the 21st century.
Mrs Amoah-Tetteh commended the organisers of the programme for initiating the move to gather students from the various senior high schools to enable them to learn, share and develop their extra curricula activities.
She used the occasion to appeal to the students to be ready to integrate into new systems and inspire others who might not have acquired such skills.
Tthe programme has benefited over 2000 students from 30 Senior High Schools in six regions of the country.
She urged participants to broaden their horizon and ensure that they became better people after the conference.
Mr Samuel Ofori-Adjei, Headmaster of Accra Academy recounted the significance of the programme and noted that it had served the purpose for which it was established.
He urged students to take their lessons seriously and to ensure that they also share their views on issues that will be raised.
Master Kobina Asamani Mawuli, Director of the Exchange Programme School, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for supporting the programme and called on the students to make judicious use of the programme.
