The Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Office at the presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo says Ghana would be doomed if the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is voted back into power.According to him, an Akufo-Addo led NPP government is tantamount to hooliganism, serial killings, corruption, selfishness, drug trafficking and nation wrecking.Tony Aidoo was commenting on assertions by the flag-bearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that the Mills-led administration has stalled Ghana’s development. The NPP flag-bearer while addressing enthusiastic supporters at the party’s rally in Accra Saturday, said President John Evans Atta Mills does not deserve another term in office given his abysmal performance as president.Nana Akufo-Addo enumerated among other things what he said are massive corruption, unemployment and high cost of living which have engulfed the country as an indication of President Mills’ failure to propel Ghana to a first world country. But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Dr. Tony Aidoo opined that it would be a calamity if Ghanaians fail to renew the mandate of President John Evans Atta Mills in the December polls for him to continue with the Better Ghana Agenda."It would be a big mistake; the most calamitous mistake in the history of this country if Professor Mills is not given a second term” Aidoo bemoaned. He said it is time for Ghana to move from the “barbaric politics” of the NPP to the path of “politics of civilization” of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) hence Ghanaians would do the nation a great disservice if they change the ruling government.Tony Aidoo noted that the NPP in its desperate attempt to equate Nana Addo to President Mills has resorted to vilification and maligning the President to make them at par and destroy the foundation laid by the NDC.In a reply to Nana Addo’s question on who is in charge of Ghana, the NDC capo said “for three years he [Mills] has guided the country away from violence, away from politics of vindictiveness, away from manipulating the judicial system so that political opponents can be jailed”.He stressed that the NPP would continue to malign and denigrate President Mills because they have no track record to campaign on for election 2012.Tony Aidoo was optimistic that the NDC would be given a second term to continue with their good works."Any objective minded person who wants to do comparative politics relative to the respective achievements of the eight years of NPP governance with the NDC’s three years of government cannot not fail to see the progressive achievements chalked in three years”.
