Some passengers aboard two commercial vehicles are feared dead after an articulated truck loaded with frozen fish overturned and landed on the two vehicles at Lapaz end of the N1 Highway in Accra.
The passengers are said to have been trapped under the truck as rescue workers attempt to save the lives of innocent victims.
Eye witness told Joy News' Annie Osabutey that the articulated truck, heading to Achimota from the Mallam end of the road was on a tough speed and could not apply his brakes on time when another vehicle, from the opposite direction, was making a u-turn.
In his bid to avoid a head-on collision with the car making the u-turn, the articulated driver skidded off the road, turned and fell on the two commercial vehicles.
According to Osabutey the traffic light was not functioning apparently because the light was off and that he suspects partly contributed to the accident.
Joy News' Emmanuel reporting also from the scene said onlookers and sympathisers have besieged the spot of the accident assisting the police in rescue efforts.
