The Upper West branch of the New Patriotic Party has condemned the attack and destruction of properties owned by the Municipal Chief Executive Tahiru Issahaku Moomen.
Regional secretary of the Party, Hafiz Bin Salih who led colleague regional executives to the crime scene was shocked at the extent of destruction by irate supporters of the party.
He described the act as criminal and called on the police to activate its investigative machinery to apprehend the culprits and prosecute them.
‘‘Nobody should be spared in this dastardly act. We are not going to protect or shield anybody. We are in charge of the governance of this country and we don’t want the country to be lawless,’’ Hafiz Bin Salih said.
Properties worth thousands of Ghana Cedis owned by Issahaku Moomen were destroyed by the irate youth.

The attack is part of controversies surrounding the compilation and composition of the polling station register.
Before this attack, there was an earlier clash at Dobile Catholic school on Saturday between supporters of the Wa Central Constituency chairman, Ali Kamara who is seeking re-election against his Vice Chief Issahaku Sidik believed to be strongly supported by the Wa municipal chief executive, Tahiru Issahaku Moomen.
But for the timely intervention of the police and the military, the clash would have been bloody.
Zongo electoral area coordinator of the NPP, Muazu Mohammed Akram alleged that he was attacked, beaten with the area’s electoral register taken away by some known members of the party.
The assailants took the attack to the family residence of the MCE, Issahaku Tahiru Moomen later Sunday.
They attacked a second house belonging to Mr. Moomen. The assailants fled after national security officer fired warning shots.

Two other houses located in the same Zongo electoral area were also vandalized.
TV sets, cooking utensils, ghetto blasters were destroyed whilst an amount of 6,000 Ghana cedis and foam mattress were stolen.
Owner of the house, Haruna Seidu popularly known as happy is being accused of forcefully taking the electoral register of the area from the coordinator, Muazu Mohammed Akram.
The irate supporters also destroyed and ate fried fish meant for sale valued at 150 Ghana Cedis.
Wa Central Constituency, Chairman Ali Kamara accused the Wa municipal chief executive, Tahiru Issahaku Moomin of meddling in the polling station executive election to oust him out of his position.
‘‘He is just putting every effort just to take me away from the chairmanship. My brother you are enjoying your DCE [MCE position]. I am not enjoying it. It is time for me to enjoy my chairmanship and you want to hijack the chairmanship too. As for that I won’t agree and I won’t allow him to intimidate any polling station executive,’’ he warned.
Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, however, denied that claim. ‘‘I don’t support anybody against the chairman. In any case I don’t know how my support could influence the decision of delegates’’.
The two are sworn enemies for the past six years. Tahiru Issahaku Moomin accused the chairman, Kamara of being the mastermind of the attack on his house, an accusation chairman Kamara quickly denied.
