President Nana Akufo-Addo has left the country on Saturday to lead the Ghanaian delegation to the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU).
The session is being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The meeting of the Heads of State will take place from January 28-29, 2018, under the theme, “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable path to Africa’s Transformation”.
On Monday, President Akufo-Addo will be in South Africa to attend the funeral of his great friend, the South African trumpeter, composer and singer, Hugh Ramapolo Masekela, which is taking place in Johannesburg.
He was accompanied by the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway; Attorney General, Gloria Akuffo; and officials of the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry.
Given the absence from the jurisdiction of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, Aaron Mike Oquaye, in accordance with Article 60(11) of the Constitution, will act in his stead.
President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
