Son of Ghana’s first president, Sekou Nkrumah, is livid because President Nana Akufo-Addo has called Nelson Mandela the “greatest of all Africans”.
“Mandela is not greatest of all Africans, Nkrumah is! Shame on you Nana Addo,” Sekou wrote on Facebook in reaction to the president's tribute at the funeral of late South African jazz icon, Hugh Masekela Tuesday.
The president paid a glowing tribute to Masakela, with whom he partied and clubbed in many places around the world and recalled moments of great pleasure after the release of Nelson Mandela from prison.

“He was one of the most prominent of the South African exiles, who kept the struggle alive before the eyes and conscience of the world, and he did it largely through his wonderful music.
"Trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, his voice – he made beautiful music out of each of them. And when his idol, the iconic Nelson Mandela, greatest of all Africans, walked out of prison, his joy was without end. I came here to visit with him when he returned home, and that was my first experience of South Africa,” the president said of Hugh Masekela.
But a displeased Sekou took to social media to berate the president for hailing Nelson Mandela as the greatest African.
In his Facebook post, Sekou vented his spleen on President Akufo-Addo over the attempt to "obliterate a status earned by Nkrumah."
“Someone should go and tell Nana Addo that Kwame Nkrumah, not Mandela is the greatest African! Is he blind not to see Nkrumah's statue in front of the AU headquarters,” he said.
