The Weija Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Albert Sam on Friday expressed worry over the breakdown of biometric registration equipment at some registration centres in the area.
The centers he mentioned include Adu Gyamfi School at Sowutuom, Pank Secondary School and Islamic School also at Awoshie, and Anyaa Market which have been riddled with the problem for the past four days.
This he said, had led to the inability of residents and potential voters to patronize the biometric voter register exercise which would empower them to vote in the upcoming elections.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Sam said he reported the issue to the Ga South Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr Kofi Frimpong who had assured him that the machines would be fixed or be replaced so that the exercise could continue.
“But what I am still wondering about is what the Electoral Commission (EC) is going to do to replace the lost days within the 10- day period scheduled for the current third phase of the registration exercise” he quizzed.
