A Deputy Information Minister says the president’s state of the nation address to Parliament Thursday will be heavy on jobs and the economy.

In a sneak peek into the president’s presentation, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will also make definite comments on some of the major social intervention programmes the government is executing already.

He was speaking to Joy News’ Emefa Apawu, Wednesday on Newsnite, a day before the president’s state of the nation address.

In Accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the president is expected to deliver the state of the nation address to Parliament to inform Parliamentarians and by extension Ghanaians about the state of the country.

It will be his second state of the nation address after assuming power in 2017.

Many are the things the president is expected to touch on tomorrow, having laid an ambitious plan before the house in last year’s state of the nation address.

Despite inheriting what the president described as a challenged, heavily indebted economy, he assured Ghanaians of better times ahead with an economy beyond aid, better education.

He also promised to fight corruption aggressively with the setting up of the office of the Special Prosecutor.

His major 2016 campaign promises, including the free senior high school policy, one district, one factory, one village, one dam were all reiterated by the president as policies the government intends to execute within the year under review.

One year on, the president returns to Parliament tomorrow to inform Ghanaians what exactly his government has done over the period.

He returns at a time when there is tension in Parliament with the Minority members already on a cold war mission over a controversial cash-for-seat scandal.

One of his lieutenants, the Deputy Information Minister told Joy News “all is set for tomorrow.”

“Parliament is set for tomorrow,” he stated, adding, the president will update the nation on how far we have come and what is there to do this year.

With the 2018 budget already presented which has outlined areas the government will be concentrating on in 2018, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the president will provide an outlook for the year.

“He will focus significantly on jobs and economy,” he said.

When he was asked to tell listeners the state of the nation, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said he would rather the president did that.
