The former Minister of Trade, Industry and President’s Special Initiatives (PSI), Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen who is also one of the NPP Presidential aspirants Tuesday this week, demonstrated that when it comes to oratory and marketability, he stood tall. In his interaction with delegates in the Volta Region, precisely at Biakoye, where the ex-Minister managed to woo delegates with his 10 plan action points he urged the party members to look for a candidate who had a region which could produce more votes for the Party and that could cancel the votes of the opposition in their strongholds. Considering the huge number of aspirants, Alan Kyeremanten in his 10 plan action, said the NPP needed a unifier who would unite the party after the Congress. He noted that looking at the large number of the aspirants, friction could occur because followers of aspirants would be peeved if their candidate failed to win. In such a situation the party needed somebody who could unite all the feuding parties and he said he was the one who could do that to ensure victory for the party in 2008. Alan Kyeremanten pointed out that with the nation moving into a new era, there should be a new messenger with a new vision and original ideas like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana. "Ghana needs a new messenger with original ideas and a fixer to fix the problems of the of nation by creating jobs for the youth”, he said. Comparing himself to the first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his vision 50 years ago, the NPP Presidential hopeful stated that NPP needed a visionary leader who would step into the shoes of Mr. Kufuor and help create wealth for the people. He also told the delegates that he came from the Central Region just like the NDC flagbearer, Prof. Atta-Mills. To him Mills and he would share the Central Region votes and he would use the rest of the votes in the other regions to beat him. Mr. Kyeremanten, who was at his best in wooing the delegates, said fixing a particular problem needed a specialist and a professional and that he had the expertise to fix the problems of the nation. He catalogued various achievements of the NPP and added that looking at the Road sector alone NPP stood the greatest chance of winning in 2008. The aspirant, also known as "Alan Cash" for his resourcefulness, told the delegates that through youthful dynamism coupled with original ideas and his international exposure, he could win the battle for the party with ease.
