The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has issued a health alert for the Upper East Region following recent floods.
According to the GHS, reports it has received from health officials on the ground indicate that an epidemic outbreak is likely to occur.
The GHS fears residents of the affected areas could be struck by the following; cholera, malaria and typhoid.
The GHS is therefore recommending that government treats the matter as urgent.
Speaking to Joy News on the issue, Dr, George Amofa, the Deputy Director-General of the GHS in-charge of Public Health said a team of health care professionals have been dispatched to the region to monitor the situation and assist in preventing any outbreak.
