Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, is set to face a disciplinary probe following comments he made on a leaked tape.
The decision to refer the apologetic Deputy General Secretary to the Disciplinary Committee for a possible action was taken by the party’s National Steering Committee following a marathon meeting on Wednesday.
Mr Boahen was heard in a leaked audio that went viral last week claiming the party received five million cedis from the Presidency to organise the 2017 National Annual Delegates Conference in Cape Coast.
Obiri Boahen must now explain his conduct and justify why he should not be sanctioned.

He has since apologised for making the allegation, claiming that portions of the tape have been doctored.
He did appear before the Steering Committee on Wednesday night but it appears the matter is not ending soon.
According to the Steering Committee, after listening to Nana Obiri Boahen and taking cognizance of his public apology for the false allegations he had made against the Flagstaff House, the seat of the Presidency, and the party leadership, it has referred his conduct to the party's disciplinary committee in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The committee has further instructed the Deputy General Secretary to refrain from speaking to the media in any official capacity until his issues with the disciplinary committee have been fully resolved.
