397 members of the NPP and the NDC have defected to the PNC.
They cited the inability of the two parties which have had the mandate of Ghanaians to govern the country to meet the aspirations of the people as the reason for their defection.
The defectors said the PNC which stands for peace would ensure a peaceful environment conducive for a speedy socio-economic development of the country if given the mandate in the 2008 general election.
A statement issued by the Kumbungu Constituency executive of the PNC and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Afa Yahaya Tahidu said the defectors came from Wayayo, Gbullung, Voggu and Gupanarigu Electoral Areas of Kumbungu in the Northern Region.
The statement said the executive members had undertaken a tour of the communities in the constituency and had realised that many floating voters were desirous of joining the PNC because they believe it to be the only party to rescue the country from its present predicaments.
It said Mr. Zakaria Alhassan Wunda, the Northern Regional Chairman of the party accompanied the Kumbungu Constituency executive to welcome the defectors into the fold of the PNC.
