The Chinese government has offered to support government’s flagship programmes aimed at transforming the economy and creating jobs.
The one district one factory, one village one dam and the planting for food and jobs programmes, are yet to fully take off despite assurances from the government.
The outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Baohong expressed the willingness of her government to support these programmes.
At a ceremony to formally end her duty in Ghana, Ms Sun said Ghana stands to gain a lot under the China-Africa cooperation agreement.

“China-Ghana cooperation is expected to boom with a number of major projects to kick off among which is the expansion of the Tema Port, the oil exploration in the Volta Basin and the James Town Fishing Port complex…
“China will support Ghana’s initiatives of one district one factory, one village one dam and the planting for food and jobs programmes,” she added.
The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who was at the ceremony, implored Ms Sun to be a good advocate for Ghana when she returns to her country.
He urged her to continue to promote the strong relationship between both countries and that she is “a great friend of our nation, and whose tour of duty here in Ghana has witnessed a significant and tremendous expansion of co-operation and friendship between the Peoples’ Republic of China and Ghana.”
President Akufo-Addo noted that Ghana-China relations date back to the very early years of Ghana’s Independence, and were rekindled in the period of the leadership of President John Agyekum Kufuor, in the year 2001 to 2008, resulting, amongst others, in the construction of the Bui Dam.
“Everybody who is an objective and impartial observer of the happenings in the country would agree that these last four or five years, where our guest of honour has been the Chinese Ambassador, have witnessed a truly remarkable development in this relationship,” he said.
