Efforts by the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) to ensure that only wholesome goods are sold are being hampered by the activities of some organizations whose aim is to achieve their set target in revenue mobilization.
They include the District Assemblies, Customs, Excise, and Preventive Services, Environmental Prevention Agency and the Police Service.
Mr. Solomon Agampim, the Upper East Regional Zonal Coordinator of the Board, said these at a press briefing as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Upper East FDB, in Bolgatanga.
He appealed to individuals, organisations and other stakeholders to assist the FDB to ensure that goods met the required standard.
Mr. Agampim commended the media in the region for supporting the Board in its crusade against the sale of unwholesome products.
He said "The over-reliance of Ghana to external sources for the supply of basic ingredients for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and processed food raises the cost of local production."
