Tema Youth Coach Prince Owusu is favourite to succeed Orlando Wellington as head trainer of the National under 20 men’s team, the Black Satellites according to JOY Sports sources.
Orlando Wellington resigned on Tuesday following poor results with the team since taking over from World Cup winning coach Sellas Tetteh after the heroics of 2009. He has since failed to defend the African title won by Sellas Tetteh and could not reach the World Cup.
Coach Prince Owusu is spoken of highly as a youth development coach who has an eye for discovering and enhancing talents of young players.
He has been doing some scouting work for some of the national teams and his role in assisting Kwasi Appiah in his run to the All Africa Games football title is yet to be highlighted.
Coach Prince is mentioned in the same vain as Wassaman Coach Yusuf Aboubakar and Medeama Coach Bashir Hayford who are also tipped to get the job.
