Former Ghana youth international, Mubarak Wakaso has completed a transfer from Spanish Villareal to La Liga side Espanyol for an undisclosed amount.
The Yellow Submarines were relegated from the Primera Liga after defeat to Atlético Madrid in May.
The former Ashanti Gold star represented Ghana at the 2005 U-17 World Cup in Peru after which he signed a 5-year deal with Spanish Segunda Division side Elche CF.
He was later sold to Villareal in 2011 where he represented the “B” side the second division and rose through the ranks.
Wakaso made his La Liga debut for Villareal, replacing José Catalá in the last minutes of a 2–2 away draw against Racing de Santander.
Espanyol thus becomes the third Spanish club for the 21-year –old having played for Elche CF and Villareal CF’
Villareal's relegation to the Segunda Division sparked fears that there would be player exodus in a team that possess the likes of Nilmar, Giuseppe Rossi, Ikechukwu Uche, Cristian Zapata among other top stars.
