The aspiring National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Odododiodio has vowed to solve the perennial problem of joblessness in the constituency if voted into power in December.Nii Lantey Vanderpuye said he is aware of the challenge and has already taken concrete steps towards solving the problem. He made the promise on Joy News, Friday, ahead of his campaign launch the following day.Joy News’ Francis Abban went to the Odododiodio constituency to gauge the mood of the residents ahead of the launch and to find out their greatest challenges in the constituencies. The youth were unequivocal about the dire need for jobs in the vicinity. They also complained about the poor level of education and sanitation in the area. But speaking to Joy News the aspiring NDC candidate is confident of meeting the aspirations of the constituents.According to him, the demands by the youth in the area fall within the “six prong approach to socio-economic development in Odododiodio from 2013-2016.”He said the first youth empowerment programme has been held in the constituency to discuss the paradigm shift of development in the area.He stated the programme brought together the youths with different party affiliation together for a two day seminar after which they came out with a communiqué out of which a development agenda has been culled.“The first on this agenda is education, after that health, environment and sanitation, social and infrastructure development, sports and recreation and human resource development. So all that the young men have talked about fall within these six prong area, he said.He dismissed assertion the Odododiodio constituency is a swing seat, saying the constituency has always been a safe seat for the NDC.He chronicled the political history of the constituency, saying the NPP has won the seat only on two occasions. He is convinced he will retain the seat for the NDC.On the campaign launch tomorrow, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye said the Vice President John Dramani Mahama will be the guest of honour with key government officials including deputy Ministers of Finance and Information Fifi Kwetey and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa respectively attending. He said it is after the campaign launch that he move full swing to retain the seat for the NDC.
