The Public Services Commission has confirmed Mustapha Usif as the substantive Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
His confirmation comes 15 months after President Akufo-Addo appointed him as the acting Executive Director of the Scheme.
The confirmation was done in accordance with the advice of the Governing Board of the Scheme and in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Background of Mustapha Ussif
Ussif, a former MP for Yagaba-Kubori Constituency (Jan 2013- Jan 2017), started his professional career as a trained teacher from the Bagabaga Teacher training College and later went to Anglia Ruskin University at Chelmsford in UK to study BA (Hon) in International Business Management.
He holds an MBA in finance with distinction from the University of Gloucesterhire in UK and also undertook an Executive Program in Management Development at the University of Wales.
Ussif also served as a freelance consultant with Action Aid UK before moving to Parliament to serve as an MP.
Background at NSS
Ussif took over as acting Executive Director from Micheal Kpessa-Whyte in 2017 and has implemented policies to help transform the Scheme.
The Agricultural sector of the Scheme has seen great growth under his administration. Policies introduced include registration process going Paperless, Digitisation of Service Certificate, Entrepreneurship Module, Rig Community Water Project, Capacity Building Workshop among others.
Ussif was adjudged the Best Young CEO of the year at the 8th Ghana Entrepreneurs & Corporate Awards.
