Commuters from Kasoa and other communities along the Mallam Junction-Wineba will now have to go through 22 days of pain in traffic .

Those coming from Accra have to face the traffic from Kaneshie and end after Mallam Junction and others coming from Kasoa have to face it from a distance of about 3 miles from Mallam Junction. .

The perennial flooding at Mallam Junction, a suburb of Accra, in the last couple of months has compelled the Accra Metropolitan Authority and Ministry of Roads and Highways to undertake a rehabilitation work on a storm drain to fix the problem.

Starting from May 2, 2018 a major part of the road is been closed, resulting in an intolerable traffic jam where commuters spend long hours in traffic.

Commuters complained as the situation became worse.                                                                                                                                                                       
However while frustrated passengers were complaining about the situation, hawkers were happily doing business by selling their wares to passengers.

In an interview the resident engineer of the project, Mr. Seth Kudzordzi said the work is expected to be completed within 50 days.

28 days have passed.

He said the work will be completed on time so people should bear with them since it’s necessary.

Linda Kubi, a hairdresser trainee who took an advantage to sell bottled water and soft drinks, said she makes GHC70.00 daily since the construction began.

Rasheed. a handkerchief seller, said he makes GH200.00 a day instead of usual GHC50.00. He said the situation has helped him.

Kofi Adusei, a Trotro driver urged the contractor working on the project speed up since it has affected his daily sales as long hours spent in traffic increases fuel cost.
