A total of 500 qualified applicants out of about 7000 applications are expected to receive financial funding of between Ghc10,000 and Ghc100,000.
This according to an Agribusiness consultant Mr. William Agyei Manu is part of government's plan to boost youth Entrepreneurship "which would help minimize high expectations on the government to provide white collar jobs for graduates after school".
He added that "the essence of the training was to was to build the capacity of applicants up to speed to enable them get a bankable proposal for this fund".
The Valley View University was selected as a center for this program in the Brong Ahafo Region because the school has an agroecology farm where students are taken through practical farming methods outside the classroom.
Head of Students Relations with the school Mr. Peter Armstrong Frimpong explained that the school adopted a policy of training students "to become employers and not employees as a step to equip students with self-employable skills to reduce the expectations on government providing jobs for students after graduation ".
He is however confident that the partnership with the NEIP would help the school realize it's youth Entrepreneurship goals.
