Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Jake Obetsebi Lamptey has dared President John Mahama to take punitive action against Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free zones Board, whom he accused of breaching his (President Mahama) directive for an end to politics of insults.
The President in his televised address to the nation on Wednesday reiterated the need for Ghana’s political scene to be devoid of insults and negativity by calling for “decency and dignity”.
“It is said that politics is a dirty game, I dare say that it is us politicians who make it so.”
However speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam on MultiTV on Thursday, the NPP Chairman accused Kojo Twum-Boafo of allegedly slighting the NPP’s Communication Director Nana Akomea on Asempa Fm, days after the president called for a truce on politics of insults.
Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey therefore wants the president to sack Mr. Twum-Boafo to indicate clearly that his government will not tolerate such behavior.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah called on the president to work on his communication team to better his administration.
