President John Mahama has been given a rousing welcome at the Central Region where he begun a thank you tour of the Nation.
In a mini durbar with the Zongo community at Kasoa, the president thanked all political parties for suspending their political activities and playing a key role in the funeral and burial of the late President John Mills.
Joy News Central Region correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reported the president as saying he will sustain the unity and peace the late president guarded jealously.
He admonished all political party activists to be civil in their campaigning ahead of the 2012 elections.
The president is expected to visit Mankessim where he will interact with market women and traders.
He will inspect the progress of work at the Cape Coast market and will address a durbar of chiefs and people in Cape Coast.
He will meet party executives in a closed door meeting, Kojo Nyarko indicated.
