Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has appealed to the electorate to give the NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo the chance to rule Ghana, and complete the good works he (Kufuor) did for the nation.
Addressing enthusiastic crowd the Mantse-Agbonaa at James Town on Saturday shortly after the party launched its 2012 campaign manifesto, Mr. J.A. Kufuor assured party faithful, Nana Addo has the men to do the job to take Ghana from poverty to prosperity.
The Ex-president said Nana Addo will re-unite the nation, which he claimed had been divided by the ruling NDC. He said the NDC has shown within the last four years that they are not competent to manage the wealth of the nation.
“Whereas NDC divided the nation, NPP will re-unite the nation to move it forward. NPP is not going to make fetish of ideology; we are not going to wear something on our sleeves….social democrats, empty slogans we are not going to do that to Ghana. We are coming to manage the resources of Ghana so that we create equality of opportunities for everybody,” he stressed.
“The country is sitting on untold wealth- talk of oil, talk of gas, talk of cocoa, gold, everything-Ghana has got them all, but what has the NDC been able to do with it?” he asked.
In an apparent response to a remark by President John Mahama who called for the youth in the country to rally behind him being the youthful one compared to the NPP’s flagbearer, Mr. Kufuor said the elections are not about the youth and the aged.
“The most important thing is how to get a government that will lay the policies and implement them sincerely for the betterment of all Ghanaians; that is what the whole thing is about”, Mr. Kufuor retorted.
