Contrary to speculations that former President Jerry John Rawlings is breaking away from the governing National Democratic Congress and forming a new party, the NDC founder has confirmed he is attending the NDC's special congress to endorse President John Mahama as its flag bearer for the December polls.
Mr Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings have been rumoured as being the main brains behind the newly-formed National Democratic Party (NDP).
But information available to Joy FM indicates Mr Rawlings has confirmed he will be attending Thursday's delegates congress of the NDC at Kumasi to endorse President Mahama as its flag bearer.
Mr Mahama has submitted his nomination forms for the flag bearership slot.
According to the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the former President is part of high ranking party officials expected to render solidarity messages at the special delegates congress to be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah revealed this when he received John Mahama’s nomination forms at the party’s headquarters, Accra. The Communications Minister, Haruna Iddrisu submitted the forms on behalf of President Mahama who is currently on a nationwide tour.
