The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says his party has uncovered plans by some miscreants to infiltrate and create chaos in Thursday’s special delegates congress to endorse President John Mahama. The NDC General Secretary, who was addressing a press conference ahead of Thursday’s congress at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi said they have received reports that some unknown persons are planning to invade the congress grounds ostensibly to create confusion that would portray the NDC as a violent party.Asiedu Nketia told journalists the intercepted report had led to massive security reinforcement at the Baya Yara Sports Stadium warning that such hoodlums will be dealt with should they carry on with their intentions. The NDC General Secretary further told Joy New’s Evans Mensah that whoever comes to the venue in a T-Shirt with an inscription that is intended to cause confusion will also be dealt with severely.According to him, they have learnt from some of their previous congresses which were marred with violence, and have put in place several measures to forestall future occurrences. He also warned radio stations that will be covering the event live to be circumspect of their reportage as the party will not tolerate anything contrary.President John Mahama will become NDC’s flag bearer should he be endorsed by more than fifty percent of the delegates. The theme for the special congress is “Advancing a Better Ghana Agenda; working for you” will have over 2000 delegates converging at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
