Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has committed himself to working hard within the next three months to ensure the ruling NDC retains power in the December polls.
Mr. Amissah-Authur kept his speech at the NDC’s congress in Kumasi short, expressing optimism about the future of the party.
The Vice President did not address any specific political issues but did commit to campaigning hard for the next three months, saying that he will do his utmost to see John Mahama elected as Ghana’s president.
He said that although the death of late president John Evans Atta Mills cast a dark cloud over the party and the nation, the silver lining was that the party has new opportunities to grow.
Rather than dwelling in the past, as he accused other parties of doing, Mr. Amissah-Arthur pledged to remain full of hope as he also echoed ex-president Rawling’s earlier address, celebrating the rise of a new generation of leaders.
He also expressed appreciation to Ex-president Rawlings for making him a Deputy Minister during his presidency in the 1990’s, thanked Atta Mills for making him Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and President Mahama for selecting him as Vice President.
