Guinness presents annual sponsorship package of GHs900,000 to Black Stars
Guinness has presented a cheque for $500,000 (GHs900,000) to the Ghana Football Association as part of a three year sponsorship package of $1,4million.
The presentation took place at a short ceremony at the Alisa Hotel Thursday, where the team is camping for their upcoming AFCON 2012 qualifying match against Malawi on Saturday.
The Marketing Director of GGBL, Mrs. Agnes Essah said, “Guinness is proud to be the Official Beverage Sponsor of the Black Stars and is committed to the continued support for the Ghana senior national football team.
This support began in January 1998, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Burkina”.
“Over the years, Guinness has remained steadfast to this commitment towards the Black Stars and has invested in several initiatives including the donation of a Team Bus and the introduction of a limited edition packaging to rally support for the Black Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations 2010 and world’s biggest football tournament-the World Cup”, she added.
In goodwill message to the Black Stars, the Managing Director of GGBL, Peter Ndegwa said “Like Guinness, our flagship brand with 250 years of superior heritage, the achievements of the Black Stars, particularly in recent years has been outstanding."
"The world cheered on the Black Stars at the World Cup in South Africa and the recently ended AFCON in Gabon/Equitorial Guinea and we are proud, as the official beverage sponsor for the Black Stars, to show support and celebrate the Greatness of the players and the teaming fans. We will continue to support the Black Stars to victory.”
Receiving the cheque, GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi thanked Guinness for their continuous support to the team. Stand-in captain Asamoah Djan, on behalf of the team, showed appreciation to Guinness for the wonderful gesture.
