A senior member of the National Democratic Congress has accused the New Patriotic Party of being hypocritical about the creation of additional 45 Constituencies by the Electoral Commission, by secretly selecting its candidates to contest the parliamentary seats in the proposed constituencies whilst kicking against it in public.According to Joseph Yamin, NDC Secretary in Ashanti Region who made the claim, some NPP members have started campaigning vigorously in some proposed Constituencies. He said posters of an NPP candidate for the new Sekyere Afram Plains constituency, to be carved out of Kumawu Constituency with its capital at Drobonso, and that of NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo have been posted all over the constituency.Speaking with Adakabre Frimpong Manso, host of Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Joseph Yamin claimed the candidate, Samuel K. Amponsah aka Alhaji had already started a house to house campaign to solicit votes. However, Samuel Amponsah aka Alhaji has denied posting his posters in the constituency. He accused those he describes as his detractors, of being behind the posting of his posters to score cheap political points. He was quick to add, however, that he is fully prepared to contest the seat and is only waiting for a decision from the EC and the green light from the NPP to mount a vigorous campaign. Also contributing, Sam Cudjoe, Ashanti region Communications Director insisted the party had not sanctioned campaigning in any constituency “since they have not been created”. He had also not heard anybody campaigning in the said areas.
