Samsung has partnered with Vodafone Ghana to release the latest flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 screen size tablet in Ghana.A statement from Samsung Ghana said the unique partnership with Vodafone was to fulfill its commitment to supplying its customers with the best innovative products and making life easier for them,The new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 comes in three connectivity options: a WiFi-only version, a WiFi-and-3G HSPA-Plus connectivity version, and a WiFi-and-LTE version due later this year.The tablet has a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and a 2GB RAM, and comes in three versions with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage capacities, and the micro SD storage expandable up to 64GB.It also has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.9megapixel front-facing camera.The new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, like other Samsung products is based on Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and is designed around two key features that Apple’s iPad lacks – a stylus also called the S Pen, and several applications that allow the user to take notes and sketch, and view two programmes at once in a split screen mode.“The tab’s multi-tasking and multi-screen feature also enables users to utilize two different applications simultaneously while providing an active learning experience for the user,” the statement said. The S Pen which comes with tab provides a great option for users who find typing on glass limiting and might want to simulate pen, but reviews outside of Ghana indicate the S Pen is too light to hold, compared with the stylus that came with Wacom’s Bamboo tablet.“The S Pen can be used in place of the fingers to navigate the tablet and to make notes in the form of handwriting, which could be translated into typed notes,” the statement said.Reviews by The Inquirer in the UK indicate it is designed not for everyday tab users but mainly for Graphic Designers, and its Adobe Photoshop touch application is not as friend as the desktop version of Adobe Photoshop.Business Head for Hand Held Products at Samsung West Africa, Ryan Na who launched the product said the availability of Galaxy Note 10.1 in Ghana further demonstrates Samsung’s dedication to delivering products that offer a complete mobile experience for creating personalized and expressive content’.“History has shown that taking notes, capturing ideas immediately, and sketching to realize them is the most personal and natural way to be more productive and creative and Samsung is committed to making that easy for Ghanaians,” he said.He noted that the advanced technology and features included in Galaxy Note 10.1 give users the power to produce, create and customize communications, Head of Terminals at Vodafone Ghana, Ebenezer Ampadu said: ‘Our partnering with Samsung to introduce the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 into the Ghanaian market is to reinforce our commitment to ensuring that our customers experience the unbeatable value we offer on any device, ranging from the most sophisticated to the most affordable.”He said the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 comes with a Vodafone SIM with 2GB free internet capacity for the first month and customers will also enjoy double bonus on their internet packages for the first 90 days.At the moment the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is available in selected Vodafone Retail Outlets.’On the UK market, the retail price is £399.99 (GH¢1,231), but neither Samsung nor Vodafone has given the retail price in Ghana yet.
